Who goes up or down the S. Nicolau street, right in the heart of Lisboa Downtown, can’t be indifferent to the number 104, where very quietly lurks one of the oldest and highly esteemed stationery houses in the world of plastic arts, Au Petit Peintre.

This curious space, founded in 1909 by António Franco, was also a typography where the Journal of Women was edited in 1928. Distributed in a wagon by a Galician in the streets of Lisboa, it was already an important media talking about the emancipation of women.

Here we can find many curiosities like watercolors, seals, sealing wax, stamped letters, paints for stamps, writing inks, chemical papers, old school exercise books, engravings and various materials to be used in plastic arts.

Today, Au Petit Peintre is still visited by artists and many foreigners looking for watercolors, engravings or even to frame more specialized work.

A living museum that can’t be missed!
