Calouste Gulbenkian Museum - Founder´s Collection

Part of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Museum was opened in 1969 and houses the exceptional art collection of Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian given to the Foundation by will.

The collection has Egyptian, Greco-Roman art with particular emphasis on a collection of Greek coins; Islamic art with its collection of carpets, porcelain and glass; art from China and Japan with the collections of ceramic, lacquer and prints, European painting from the 15th to the 19th centuries with highlight to the works of Rogier van der Weyden, Ghirlandaio, Frans Hals, Rembrandt, Fragonard, Manet, Degas.

In the ornamental arts the highlight goes to the French furniture and jewellery.

The section dedicated to René Lalique presents a remarkable collection of glass and jewelry, one of a kind in the world.

There is a cafeteria with a terrace in the premises.
