Lisboa Municipal Council’s Metrology Service is responsible for carrying out metrological control of measurement instruments in accordance with prevailing legislation, in particular Decree-Law n º 291/90 of 20 September, and is accredited by the Portuguese Quality Institute as a Metrological Verification Institution thus forming an integral part of the Portuguese Quality System. It thus plays a key role in upholding trust between consumers and economic agents, striving to ensure rigour and impartiality in the measurements made in commercial transactions and in the safety and health areas.

Within the framework its activity, the following measurement instruments are measured on a daily basis:

•  Weighing Instruments

•  Mass-based measurements (Weights)

•  Taxi meters

•  Parking meters

•  Timers and billiards counters
