Get to know what to do with various types of waste.
Car Batteries
The lead / acid batteries can be delivered:
• Ecocentro da Valorsul (up to 4 units / week)
Fluorescent Lamps
Citizens must deliver whole fluorescent lamps in a shop where you can buy new ones.
They can also be delivered in the REEE collection points (see this page at "Electrical & Electronic Equipment") and waste reception sites in the city.
Woods
Wood up to two cubic meters / week should be done in Ecocentro da Valorsul.
For higher quantities, a request must be done to Valorsul or authorized companies (see list - Portuguese Environment Agency).
Medication
Pharmacies are permanent reception points for medication packages and overdue drugs.

Used cooking olis can be deliveres in the following Waste Reception Locations.
Lube Oils
Batteries and Chargers
Any shop selling batteries and chargers, as well as supermarkets, are obliged to accept them free of charge.
Lisboa City Council ensures the collection of batteries through pilhões (batteries bank) installed along the Ecopontos.
The Ecocentro da Valorsul also collects these residues, as long as the amount does not exceed 500 grams per week.

On the Valorpneu website you can find reception centers for this type of waste.
X-rays
There are periodic campaigns to collect X-rays, through its delivery in pharmacies. For deliveries outside that period please get in touch with the International Medical Assistance - AMI.
Construction and Demolition Waste
Construction contractors are responsible for the management of construction and demolition waste (CDW), which can only be performed by authorized operators.
In Lisboa, citizens may request to the City Council to collect CDW, which will take place at a date, time and place agreed with the services.
For amounts up to 1 m3, and after evaluation by the services, the City Council will remove the CDW and direct it for treatment completely free of charge. For higher quantities these residues can be removed for a fee, according to the Price Chart and Other Municipal Revenues.
The Ecocentro da Valorsul also receives CDW up to 1 m3.
Green Waste
In Lisboa, citizens may request the City Council to collect green waste up to 1m3, which will take place at a date, time and place agreed with the services.
Electrical & Electronic Equipment
The responsibility for the disposal of Electrical and Electronic Equipment Waste (EEEW) is always from the producer / importer.
EEEW include:
• Large household appliances
• Small appliances
• IT and telecommunications equipment
• Consumer equipment (Hi-Fi, camcorders, etc.)
• Lighting equipment
• Electrical and electronic tools (except large stationary industrial tools)
• Medical devices (with the exception of all implanted and infected products)
• Monitoring and control instruments (scales, etc.)
• Automatic dispensers
According to the law, when buying a new electric and electronic equipment, traders are obliged to accept old EEEW with the same function.
EEEW can also be delivered in the following locations:

In case of large EEEW, from particular houses, the City Council ensures their collection, on request of the citizens.
Plastic Lids
This type of waste must be deposited together with the bottle, jar, container or corresponding package.
There are national organizations that collect plastic lids for social purposes.
Toners and Cartridges
Toners and used cartridges can be sent to AMI or other approved operators by the
Portuguese Environment Agency.
End-of-Life Vehicle
All end-of-life vehicles must be delivered to an authorized operator, free of charge. The list of authorized operators is available here - Valorcar.
The citizen can also deliver the vehicle to the municipal police.
