Bordalo Pinheiro Museum

Bordalo Pinheiro Museum

It is a biographic and monographic museum, dedicated to the life and work of Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro (1846-1905). He was an important figure of Lisboa’s cultural, artistic and political life of the second half of XIX century. With a large collection especially in the fields of graphics and ceramics, he became famous as a caricaturist, playing an important critical role and sometimes even aggressive towards the contemporary society.

The assets of the Museum include the most complete collection of Portuguese Bordalo ceramics - with his characteristic hiper-naturalism - as well as a large exhibition of paintings, original drawings and publications.
