Parking

Street parking (791 KB) in Lisboa, in overall terms, is subject to meter charges, of short duration and with maximum parking times. There are three different rates in the city:

Green rates - in the less central zones of Lisboa, parking is cheaper per hour, making it possible to park for 4 consecutive hours.

Yellow rates - in the central zone of the city, that are well served by public transport and have several public car parks, rates are higher than in the green zone, but also enable drivers to park for up to 4 hours.

Red rates - in the city’s main transport corridors, located in the central zone of Lisboa, rates are twice as high as those in the green zone, and drivers can only park for a maximum of 2 hours.

For longer stays, drivers are advised to use the 20 car parks managed by    EMEL , that serve different user needs. There are two car parks that offer magnificent views of the city and the Tagus River:

Chão do Loureiro Car park – a multifunctional car park, with one floor prepared for charging electric vehicles, and with an urban art gallery, an esplanade, a panoramic lift and a supermarket.

Portas do Sol - Automatic, one of Europe’s most modern car parks, with a pleasant esplanade.

In all the zones managed by EMEL there are parking meters where drivers can pay for their parking periods. As an alternative to the parking meters, pay & display tickets can be purchased in advance in Smart Park equipment, that offer a simple way to pay for parking without necessarily using coins.

Pay & display parking tickets may be bought in EMEL shops or the establishments of partners throughout the city, including kiosks and newsagents.

The city’s residents and shopkeepers may request a resident’s parking card that exempts them from parking charges.
