The Councillor for Safety and Civil Protection, Mr Carlos Manuel Castro, welcome last September 18th, at the Main Hall of the City Hall, a delegation of experts from Helsinki.

This visit, from 17th through 19th September, was requested by the delegation in order to know how does work the Municipal System of Civil Protection and Rescue in Lisbon.

Because of that, the municipality prepared a visit to the departments and entities which are part of the population's security and rescue, namely by presentations and information sharing about the Municipal Service of Civil protection, the Fire Department and the Municipal Police. At the same time, other civil protection agents that operate in the city will be made known, such as INEM, PSP and Volunteer Fire Fighters of Beato.

During the reception to the delegation, which was also attended by the Ambassador of Finland, Outi Holopainen, by the second in command at the Fire Department, Mr Tiago Lores, and Mr Manuel João Ribeiro, Director of the Civil Protection Municipal Service, among other participants, the Councillor stressed the importance of this visit as "a way to leverage a closer relationship between Lisbon and Helsinki in the areas of safety, profiting from the share of know how between both systems".

In the end, the Councillor thanked the visit to Lisbon and gifted the 10 experts with the CD "Lisbon is Fado", a collection of several Fado singers who perform in Lisbon.
