While evoking the 260th anniversary of the 1755 earthquake, the Lisbon City Council, through the program that it now presents, intends to hold a series of activities and demonstrations relating to the memory of this great natural disaster.

More than just a historical record, the purpose of this set of actions is based on the will to promote a greater knowledge about the characteristics associated with the hazards, vulnerabilities and risks of earthquakes.


Covering several audiences and involving several protagonists, in a diversified and integrated manner, it aims to be a milestone in establishing a culture of safety among the Lisbon population and, inherently, in strengthening of an increasingly resilient city. The Lisbon City Council thus considers that this is a project of the entire city, whether you live, study or work in it and, also, if you are visiting.
